I have my own critique of #4. “Should we burn more fossil fuels, not less?” Sure, Epstein’s Fossil Future is flawed - but this Foreign Policy piece does a poor job steelmanning it. The tone of the article is essentially “Epstein’s unqualified opinions do not line up with what the consensus of the scientific community believes.” Which is exactly the type of nonsense that I’d hope a critically rationalist newsletter would pick up on! There’s nothing Popperian or Deustchian (or Brett Hall-ian) about this article. It’s a lot of prophesying, repeating the same old “scientific consensus” garbage. Maybe I missed something - if so pls critique my own critique!
